My Journey

I am Keva Victoria, the founder of Nomadik By Nature and Host of RIZE. I am an Embodied Dance-Yogi, Movement Artist and Global Peace Warrior. At an early age, I was naturally connected to my body through dance at the age of three— studying tap, ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, palm and kickline throughout high school — and active in track, lacrosse and rugby. For my college experience, rather than staying local like my family encouraged, I felt the need for a different kind of movement, and left my hometown of Boston, Massachusetts for a large college town about 2.5 hours west of the city.

During my junior year, I decided to travel to the opposite side of the world to study abroad in Australia. That experience really shook my reality. I was in a small bush town where everyone was barefoot all the time, walking to the grocery store or walking to class. My university was indoor/outdoor, and I would see koalas on my walk down to campus. My time there really expanded my mind to different ways of living, different landscapes, even different colors — like warm, rich earth tones I hadn’t seen growing up on the East Coast. When I came back to the United States to finish out my senior year, it was hard to integrate. It felt like I had gotten more out of my study abroad experience than I did out of my whole four years of college. Australia felt like the real life learning, and that started me on the path and love of travel. After graduating, some friends and I bought one-way tickets to Paris and backpacked through Europe for a year and a half. That experience was crazy-epic, to say the least. It wasn’t until I started my solo travel that my real journey began. I started asking questions about who I was and how I wanted to live. From traveling, I realized I could live literally anywhere and anyway I wanted, but I had to get clear on what that was.

With a seeking spirit, I tuned in to the energy of the land itself, and discovered places that felt ancient and deeply in rhythm with the natural environment. In Israel, I saw the people dance — stomp out stories and expression — in a way that was so grounded and connected to the earth. They had a vibration that was powerful to witness. Colombia showed me a way of life that was calm, peaceful, and full of simple joys. And the power I felt from its massive mountains was humbling. Hawaii was intense and powerful — an active volcano that is the most isolated island, furthest from any mainland. While I was there, I looked in the mirror and saw my eyes growing. I never dreamt in Hawaii, but got downloads of information. It felt like I was being rewired.

But it was in Argentina that my reality as I knew it began to crumble. I was preparing for a Vipassana, a 10-day silent meditation retreat, and went to a river with some people from my hostel. I remember sitting on a rock, looking at this gorgeous, lush, vibrant, colorful landscape, but inside I still felt sad and lonely. I was traveling, completely independent, doing everything I wanted, but I wasn’t fulfilled. I was in the most beautiful place I could possibly imagine and still wasn’t happy. It was so confusing — I had reached everything I set out to do, yet I felt like I had not yet arrived. That’s when I deeply understood that it doesn’t matter where you are in the world — if you’re not happy, you’re not happy. True Happiness comes from within.

I decided that day I needed to return home to Boston, and there, I began to turn inward, seeking. To sustain myself, I found a job on Craigslist working at a gym juice bar. I started taking free yoga classes there, regularly, and eating healthy. It felt like such a gift. In 2014, my heart prayers were answered. I was blessed to be introduced to a Dance Community of Embodied Global Leaders called Golden Bridge based out of Boulder, Colorado. Unlike anything I had ever experienced, this community provided a safe container for me to dive deeper into the unknown parts of myself through my own authentic movement and other sacred embodiment practices. Much of my inspiration has come from Golden Bridge’s annual summer Rights-of-Passage Program called Surfing The Creative, where I learned to experience dance as a form of deep healing. My love of movement and self exploration continued — In 2016, I encountered my yoga mentor, Mike Massey of 33 Degree Yoga School, who I studied with for a year before embarking on my 200 hour Yoga Teaching Certification in the Fall of 2017. That same year, my meditation journey led me to the Buddhist Practice of chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo. These communities helped me navigate my way home — to myself, my unique gifts and my mission on this earth.

Arriving at Nomadik by Nature

I now see that my entire life has been a journey in movement, from dance, to travel, to yoga, to breathwork and chanting. Initially, each of these forms of seeking was to deepen my own understanding of self, but I found that my purpose was bigger. I could not keep these offerings to myself. I had to teach and spread this freedom I felt in my body to others.

My journey brought me to a truth I believe to be rooted in all of us. Movement, in all its forms, is a natural phenomenon and an orientation toward life. Before agriculture, people were nomadik, literally moving in search of life - food - water. Native cultures danced to call transformation into existence. My call is to help people move back into this natural rhythm that we’ve lost over time, but which I know to be powerful, necessary, and life-changing.

I founded Nomadik By Nature as a Holistic Lifestyle offering of Embodied Freedom — utilizing Mindfulness, Movement, Nature, Travel and Community as Resources for Healing & Personal Transformation. The physical movement I invite others to enter into is a parallel journey mirroring the work on the inside. When you get stuck — whether it’s in a relationship, in a job, or in your creativity — movement can shake your life and create the space you’re looking for. Many people want to start with the mind, but the mind is so intricate that it actually comes later. There is often a gap between where people want to be and where they actually are, and in order to bridge that gap, I feel the body is the way in. Once you’re able to get in rhythm with your body, you can hear what it’s saying and respond to create change. The body is an accessible doorway to the inner journey. You can go through the body to reach the mind. I believe my mission on this Earth is to walk alongside people in that journey and help guide others through that doorway — into their bodies, into their hearts into their consciousness. Nomadik By Nature is my offering for Humans to tap their highest potential and create the life of their Dreams. It is a Movement for Peace. Inner and Outer.
